Briar's Movie Night in the Park

Hi! My name is Briar, and I'm a 16-year-old student from Elora.

Since 2022, I've organized Briar's Movie Night in the Park to raise money for the Keep Kids Fed at School program through the Children's Foundation. What started as an idea to bring our community together has grown into something I could have never imagined. Thanks to the incredible support of our community, we've already raised over $13,000 to help local children access nutritious food at school.

This year, my goal is even bigger: to reach $20,000!

I'm incredibly grateful to Kat Florence, who has generously sponsored the entire event. Because of their support, 100% of every donation made through this page will go directly to the Keep Kids Fed at School program, helping local children right here in Centre Wellington.

Why This Matters

Food insecurity is a reality for far too many families in Ontario. In fact, 1 in 3 children arrives at school without enough to eat.

When a child is hungry, it's almost impossible to concentrate on math, reading, or making friends. Their focus is on something much more basic, where their next meal will come from.

The Children's Foundation's Keep Kids Fed at School program helps change that by providing nutritious breakfasts, morning meals, lunches, and snacks to students who would otherwise go without. For some children, these meals may be the only food they receive all day.

Something as simple as a healthy meal can make an incredible difference. It helps children focus in class, participate in learning, build confidence, and simply enjoy being kids.

The Impact in Centre Wellington

During just the first half of this school year (September–February), the Keep Kids Fed at School program in Centre Wellington has already:

💛 Supported 10 school nutrition programs

🥪 Fed 2,883 students every day

🍎 Provided 232,869 meals

🙋 Supported by 207 dedicated volunteers

⏰ Received over 12,000 volunteer hours

With the average meal costing approximately $2, that's more than $465,000 worth of meals provided in only six months. If the second half of the school year is similar, that's nearly $1 million worth of meals helping local kids.
